Prepare a spreading activity for CPR
Last Tuesday 19 September, the teachers participating in the Erasmus + Programme, gathered to prepare a spreading/diffusion activity. In this case, we were designing a Power Point presentation to be presented during a CPR course in Plasencia by the end of October.

As part of our project, we had committed to inform all our community about our work.
The Major in our town, Fernando Pizarro, was so kind as to receive us in the Town Hall so that we could tell him about our project and the different activities we have carried out so far.
He was really interested and we thank him deeply for his interest.
Como parte de nuestro proyecto, nos comprometimos a informar a toda la comunidad de nuestro trabajo.
El alcalde de nuestra ciudad, Fernando Pizarro, nos recibió en el Ayuntamiento y le contamos cómo comenzó todo y las actividades que hemos llevado a cabo. Le agradecemos enormemente su interés.

DIFFUSION of our courses!
When we arrived at our school we couldn´t wait to explain our experiences abroad. We wanted to share the new ideas with our workmates. So, we explained the main ideas and we showed some pictures.
Cuando llegamos a nuestro colegio, no podíamos esperar para contar nuestras experiencias en el extranjero. Queríamos compartir las ideas nuevas con nuestros compañeros. Por eso, explicamos las ideas principales y les mostramos algunas fotos.

CREATIVE METHODOLOGY IN THE CLASS, 2nd WEEK, by MAGDALENA VELLARINO..
Hi again!
This is my second week at the University of Kent and the same as my previous colleagues, Ana Diaz, Maribel, Sergio and Yolanda, I could not be more pleased than I am!!! Although it is summer and I am missing the sunny (not the hot temperatures, though) weather in Spain. I believe this is one of the best experience, professionally talking, I have ever had.
I have met a fantastic group of 12 teachers from different countries and I am sharing with them very interesting topics about our daily jobs at schools.

Esta es mi segunda semana en la Universidad de Kent e igual que mis anteriores companeros (recordad que estoy escribiendo con un teclado ingles), Ana Diaz, Maribel, Sergio y Yolanda, no podria estar mas contenta aqui. Aunque es verano y echo de menos el tiempo soleado de Espana (aunque no las altas temperaturas). Creo que es una de las mejores experiencias, profesionalmente hablando, que he podido tener.
He conocido un grupo fantastic de 12 profesoras de diferentes paises y estoy compartiendo con ellas temas muy interesantes sobre nuestro trabajo diario en nuestros colegios.
This week we have been working about warming up our pupils with art, drama, poetry and music. We have worked with different teachers like Linda Yael, Marta, Stefi and Julie Wallis. We have also discussed about our students' problems with grammar and the writing skill. We have put into practise some innovated strategies and some activities to get our student engaged in grammar. Furthermore, we have worked with a branch of tasks related to "Multiple Intelligences" and using online resources in the class.
Esta semana hemos estado trabajando como motivar a nuetros alumnos al inicio de una clase utilizando el arte, dramatizacion, poesia y musica. Hemos trabajado con diferentes profesores como Linda Yael, Marta, Stefi y Julie Wallies. Hemos reflexionado tambien sobre los problemas que nuestros alumnus tienen con la gramatica y la expresion escrita. Hemos puesto en practica varias estrategias innovadoras y actividades para atraer y motivar a nuestros alumnus. Ademas, hemos trabajado con un abanico de tareas relacionadas con las Inteligencia Multiples y el uso de recursos online en la clase.
I have attended a plenary "Creativity: What is it?" by Alan Maley and some workshops like "Creative Use of Images" By Linda Yael, "The Power of Influence" by Lizzie Wojkowska-Wright, "Improvisation for the Language Classroom" by Peter Dyer and "Conflict Resolution for General ELT&ESP: Use English to learn conflict resolution, use conflict resolution to learn English".
Apart from these academic practice, we have had some other cultural plans like sightseeing in Canterbury, visiting villages by the seaside and having fun in pubs!!!

In Spain again!!
Hi everyone!!
I`m Sergio Palomero again!!
After a week of rest, I write again in the blog to tell you how was the second week in Canterbury.
It was a wonderful week full of activities. In my course, CLIL for secondary teachers we had to create a micro teaching activity where we teached a lesson of our subjet using the skils learned.It was an unforgettable experience, moreover all my mates were my students!!

Después de una semana de descanso, vuelvo a escribir en el blog de nuevo para contaros como ha sido mi segunda semana en Canterbury.
Fue una maravillosa semana llena de actividades. En mi curso, CLIL para educación secundaria tuvimos que crear nuestra propia actividad donde tuvimos que enseñar una lección de nuestra asignatura con las destrezas aprendidas. Maravillosa experiencia sobre todo cuando tus propios compañeros son tus alumnos.
To sum up, I must say that It has been an wonderful experience where I have met marvellous people and I have purchased a lot of knowledges to use it in my class.
I will miss the whole Pilgrims family of which I always keep very good memories.
Para resumir, debo decir que ha sido una magnífica experiencia donde he conocido personas maravillosas y he adquirido muchos conocimientos que me ayudarán en mi clase.

Después de una semana de descanso, vuelvo a escribir en el blog de nuevo para contaros como ha sido mi segunda semana en Canterbury.

PILGRIMS, UNIVERSITY OF KENT IN CANTERBURY, ENGLAND .
Hello to all the followers of this blog. My name is Maria Magdalena Vellarino Mendez. I have been teaching at school for 24 years now. I teach English at Primary and Secondary. At the moment I am in England taking a teacher training course called "CREATIVE METHODOLOGY FOR THE CLASSROOM" thanks to the programme ERASMUS +. I will try to tell you everything about this wonderful experience. As all you know, 6 teachers from our school have already received their formation. So, I am the last one.
I started the course last Monday. But, believe it or not, we have a very busy timetable. We start at 9:00 am and we finish at 15:30pm with a break in the middle to have lunch. In the afternoon we have different kinds of workshops, which are not compulsory, but they are soooo interesting that I try to attend as many as possible. The last workshop usually finishes at 21:30!!!
In my group there are 12 teachers from different countries: Austria, Hungary, China, Portugal, Belgium, Russia, Slovakia and Spain.
This experience is a meeting point among professionals of education with different nationalities that can put in common our knowledge and curiosities.
Hola a todos los seguidores de este blog. Mi nombre es Maria Magdalena Vellarino Mendez. Hace 24 anos (no hay esa letra en el alfabeto ingles, ni tildes, sorry!!!) que inicie mi andadura docente en el colegio. Doy clases de ingles en Primaria y Secundaria. En este momento estoy en Inglaterra hacienda un curso de formacion para profesores que se llama "METODOLOGIA CREATIVA PARA LA CLASE" , gracias al programa ERASMUS+. Intentare contaros todo sobre esta maravillosa experiencia, Como todos sabeis, 6 profesores de nuestro colegio ya han recibido su formacion. Asi que soy la ultima participante.
Empece el curso el lunes pasado. Pero, lo creais o no, tenemos un horario muy intensivo. Empezamos a las 9:00 y terminamos a las 15:30 con un descanso a media manana para almorzar. Por la tarde tenemos distintos talleres formativos que no son obligatorios, pero son taaaannn interesantes que intento asistir a tantos como puedo. El ultimo taller normalmente termina a las 21:30!
En mi grupo estamos 12 profesores de diferentes paises: Austria, Hungria, China, Portugal, Belgica, Rusia, Eslovaquia y Espana. Esta experiencia es un punto de encuentro entre profesionales de la educacion con diferentes nacionalidades donde tenemos la oportunidad de poner en comun nuestro conocimiento e inquietudes.
I have a brilliant teacher, Marta Bujakoska, who is teaching us techniques and resources to improve our way of teaching in the classroom.
Tengo una profesora estupenda, Marta Bujakowska, que nos esta ensenando tecnicas y recursos para mejorar nuestros metodos de ensenanza en la clase.
So far, we have learnt some techniques related to how to teach a lesson without materials or work with a variety of them, how to free yourself from the course book, how to create expectations and get our students involved and interested, how to improvise and how to adapt your strategies and activities to different learners.
I have been to some interesting workshops in the evening like "Building Bridges" by Stefania Ballotto, "Using Shakespeare in the classroom" by Peter Dyer, "Empowering Young Learners (ideas for active learners) by Adrian Tennant and "Using Theatre Techniques to Create Teacher and Student Rapport and Classroom Community" by Mark Almond.
This is one of the teachers, Stefi.
Hasta ahora hemos aprendido tecnicas relacionadas con como dar una clase sin materiales o trabajar con distintos tipos, como liberarte del libro de texto, como crear expectativas y conseguir que nuestros alumnus se enganchen y esten motivados, como improvisar y como adaptar los recursos y estrategias a los distintos tipos de alumnado.
He asistido tambien a ponencias muy interesantes por la tarde, como "Construir Puentes" de Stefania Ballotto, "Usar Shakespeare en la clase" de Peter Dyer, "Activar a los Alumnos" de Adrian Tennant y "Usar Tecnicas de Teatro para Crear una Buena Relacion entre el Profesor, el Alumno y toda la Comunidad Educativa" de Mark Almond.
I will continuous telling you about this amazing adventure.

Training with different teachers from my own
Hello again!
So far this week and also last week, I have attended some afternoon workshops with different teachers at Pilgrim school.
In general, the information we are given is pretty interesting and we are taught some useful ways to approach our subjects in a different way.
Some times, these workshops are based on theoretical contents (scaffolding, blended learning, the flipped classroom...) but on other occasions, they are much more entertaining and we are spoken about traditions, culture, films, storytelling, etc.
I will know upload some pictures of some of the activities I have been to.
Today, for example , I have attended a plenary with another trainer ( Anthony Gaughan) who had already been to my class with an interesting lecture on "40 things to do with a text"
So far this week and also last week, I have attended some afternoon workshops with different teachers at Pilgrim school.

The last example of extra lessons is a workshop we have had on Extensive Reading.
OUP has presented some materials and activities to improve our students' reading competence.
 
Como parte complementaria de nuestra formación asistimos a clases voluntarias por las tardes.A veces, son clases teóricas pero otras son más dinámicas y ofrecen nuevos enfoques metodológicos con muchas actividades que se pueden llevar a cabo en el aula.
En este caso, aparecen los talleres de Stephania Balloto que versaba sobre Listening activities, el plenario de Anthony Gaugan y una clase sobre Extensive Reading que nos ofreció Oxford University Press

Hi from Canterbury!
I'm Yolanda Alonso, a Primary Teacher of level 2. I will be spending two weeks in Canterbury to study a course. I arrived on 22nd July with other two colleagues from the school: Maribel and Sergio. I am studying CLIL for Primary Teachers, my teacher is Richard Reisner and we are five students from Slovakia and Spain.
In our course, we have a theoretical part in which we are learning the differences between CBLT (Competence Based Language Teaching), CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and Bilingual/immersion.
With CLIL methodology we focus on process instead of content. It is a different way of learning a subject, pupils are more active. We can say that CLIL is about enquiry.
But we also have a practical part in which we are developing CLIL activities through drama, songs, storytelling...
It is being an enriching experience in most of the aspects. I'm sharing my free time with people from most of the European countries, I'm discovering new places and new cultures and I'm improving my English and my self-confidence.
Now I have an important aim: to put into practice everything that I am learning here.

¡Hola! Soy Yolanda Alonso, profesora de 2º de primaria. Ahora mismo estoy en Canterbury estudiando durante dos semana el curso de CLIL para educación Primaria junto con mis compañeros Maribel y Sergio.
En mi curso somos 5 alumnos: dos españoles y tres chicas eslovacas. Nuestro profesor se llama Richard Reisner.
Este curso tiene una parte teórica en la que estamos viendo las diferencias entre lo que conocemos como CBLT, CLIL y el bilinguismo en los colegios. La metodología CLIL focaliza la atención en el profeso en lugar de en el contenido de las asignaturas que impartimos en inglés. Es un nuevo enfoque sobre cómo se aprende una asignatura y en la que los alumnos son una parte más activa del profeso enseñanza-aprendizaje.
También estamos profundizando en una parte más práctica en la que desarrollamos actividades mediante la metodología CLIL a través de canciones, cuentacuentos, dramatización, etc.
Además de todo esto, esta siendo una experiencia muy enriquecedora en todos los sentidos. Esto compartiendo mi tiempo con personas de infinidad de países con el intercambio cultural que implica, esto mejorando mi nivel de inglés y también estoy reforzando la confianza en mí misma ante nuevas situaciones.
Mi siguiente objetivo es poner en práctica en mis clases todo lo que aquí esto aprendiendo.

Training abroad

The classes are compulsory from 9:00 AM to 3.30 PM, but we have extra optional lessons every afternoon from 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM which are related to different topics: culture, music, dancing, storytelling, drama, etc.
Besides, Canterbury is a reallly beautiful place t visit .We are near London, where we have spent the weekend) and the villages around here are pictursque. Dover with its white cliffs or Whitstable...
My classes are very practical and we are learning about different applications to create new materials by using new technologies .They are very useful and will make my classes much more attractive and connected to the new IT our students are more used to dealing with.
I will now show you some of the products I have created.This one is poetry .
We have also learnt other apps.

El curso dura dos semanas. Las clases obligatorias son desde las 9:00 a las 3:30 y también tenemos talleres opcionales desde las 4:00 hasta las 9:30.
En mi clase somos 6 personas de distintos países de Europa y fundamentalmente estamos aprendiendo a usar herramientas que se encuentran en la red para buscar recursos y generar nuestros propios materiales.
Canterbury es una ciudad preciosa conocida por los cuentos de Chaucer y también por su impresionante catedral .
